Tare Privacy Policy

Effective October 7, 2026

Tare is a seller fee calculator for iPhone, made by Alex Johnson. This page explains what happens to your information when you use it.

The short version: Tare doesn't ask for or keep personal data. There's no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.

What stays on your iPhone

The prices, costs, fee settings and items you save in Tare are stored only on your iPhone. Tare doesn't upload or sync them anywhere. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer, Apple's backup includes them the same way it includes any other app's data. Deleting Tare deletes them.

Category search

When you search for an eBay category and Tare can't find a match on your iPhone, it sends the words you typed to Tare's server (api.tarethis.com), which asks eBay which category they belong in.

On the App Store, this is listed as Search History, not linked to you and not used for tracking.

Sharing

When you share an item's breakdown, Tare hands it to the iOS share sheet. It goes only where you choose to send it.

What Tare doesn't do

If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may give me anonymous crash reports and usage totals. Apple handles those under Apple's privacy policy.

Children

Tare isn't aimed at children under 13, and it doesn't ask anyone for personal information.

eBay

Tare is an independent app. It isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by eBay Inc. eBay is a trademark of eBay Inc.

Changes to this policy

If Tare ever starts handling information differently, I'll update this page and its effective date before that version of the app is released.
